Why Akhlut?

What’s Akhlut?

A question we get asked a lot is why Akhlut?

Side Story- When Brian started thinking of starting his own shop, for years, he wanted to call it BS Automotive Repair. Unfortunately, Stacey only heard the slogans people may have said and asked Brian to reconsider. BS was the slogan at their wedding! Brian decided on a different name.

In Inuit folklore, the kak-whan-u-ghat kig-u-lu'-nik or akh'lut is an orca-like composite animal that takes the form of a wolf when on land, and is sometimes depicted as a wolf-orca hybrid. It’s an ancient legend about a wolf who can transition to an orca and vice versa.

We want to make legends at Akhlut Auto, we want to make your vehicle legendary and stand out amongst the rest. We want it to reflect you and we want you to be legendary! Hence, where legends are born! I mean, does anyone really want to be normal now-a-days?

Reason Two: war·rior | \ ˈwȯr-yər, ˈwȯr-ē-ər , ˈwär-ē- also ˈwär-yər \ Definition of warrior: a person engaged in some struggle or conflict. According to ancient legends the Wolf is the warrior of the land and the Orca is the warrior of the ocean.

Brian and Stacey have had enough of these struggles in life and have always adapted and learned from their mistakes. I feel everyone has their own story and we have plenty.

Reason Three: The Akhlut legend depicts that the hybrid is 50/50 Wolf/Orca.

Brian and Stacey’s relationship and decisions has always been a 50/50 split. It’s only fitting we have a logo depicting the same!

Reason Four: Brian and Stacey have always been an advocate and the silent voice for animals. From rescuing wildlife to spending years rescuing dogs, animals have always been a driving force in Brian and Stacey's lives. Brian is an ethical hunter as well! At the shop occasionally, you will see two of our rescues, Ramsey and Comet. Ramsey is the mascot to our logo and an inspiration behind the Wolf. Yes, he does happen to be Brian's dog. ;)

Believe it or not, Brian’s favorite animal is a Wolf and Stacey’s is an Orca!

It just fits and this is how Akhlut came to be!

We are always looking for new and exciting opportunities. Let's connect.
